1996 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe Collectors Edition

American Icon

Here we have a final year C4 Corvette optioned with the desirable Collector’s Edition package. The CE package offered the owner what was essentially a “loaded” Corvette. Many of the cars with this option came with all the goodies GM had to offer in 1996. This particular Corvette was also fitted with the optional LT4 330HP 350 small block. It is the same motor that came standard in the Grand Sport Corvettes of 1996 and was mated with a proper 6-speed manual transmission. The car is a coupe with a removable center top and finished in a beautiful Sebring Silver Metallic. These are very lively cars are pure excitement to drive. It is a true front-engined V8 sports car with independent rear suspension, four wheel disc brakes, and a light weight construction. The light gray interior is fitted with lots of technology that was very ahead of its time in 96. Just to name a few…Dial-selected driving modes, tire pressure monitoring system, high performance sound system, and keyless locking. To add to the driving experience, just about “power assisted everything” in the car. This is a Corvette that was paving the way for many new GM cars to come. A true flagship model!

The car has very low mileage and has received a great deal of care throughout its life. The is zero paintwork very little chips found anywhere on the exterior. Many of the rubber seals have either been maintained or replaced throughout its life. This includes a recently installed rear window seal and new top seals. The wheels have no curb rash and still retain their factory TPMS decals. All of the glass and lights are in wonderful condition. There is no rust or corrosion on the car and certainly no cracks in the fiberglass. The engine compartment is extremely clean for its age, as are the wheel wells and undercarriage. There are countless signs, found across the car, that prove it has been cared for by its past owners.

The interior is light gray with several black accents. The seats have held up very well for their age but have minor signs of wear. They are still soft and all of the full power assist items work as they should. The carpets are super clean and include three different style floor mats. All of the switches and accessory items work well including ice-cold AC. There are new correct sun visors with no cracks or breaks. The headliner is also new as well as the top and window seals. The car comes with two sets of keys including the keyless remote. Also included are all the factory books.

It was an option to have the LT4 engine in the Collector’s Edition model. Not all had this powertrain nor did they all have the 6-speed manual. The combination of the two make this car a true Corvette and a blast to drive. The car handles great and stops straight and quickly. The clutch feels fine and transmission shifts up and down as it should. Power on acceleration is very strong. There are near new tires all around and they definitely help to keeps the car pointed in the right direction.

This is an outstanding car, both mechanically and physically. A perfect car for a local cruise-in or a cross country road trip. It can be driven passionately, or comfortably cruised. Chevrolet brought everything to the table when building this car. It is great value and a true classic in the years to come.
